My favorite Band is "Shinedown" (I am the MOM),  my son LOVES YOU--Skillet is his #1 favorite, He is 19 yrs & in College, He only listens to Christian bands, great Christian son but feels all Secular music is evil (this drives me crazy by the way).    I almost had him talked into coming to this/your concert with Shinedown in Feb until I said I thought you was "Opening".  Maybe this is not even true??  I do not have enough information to even know anything.   He has it set in his head you will only get about 20 minutes to play and then have to sit through 2 crappy bands afterwards (his words).      I was SOOO THRILLED to see His favorite band and mine being at the same concert ! and now I am very disappointed I can not talk him into going.  This concert is so close to our area, He has been wanting to see you for over a year now.     He has ZERO use for Shinedown & Puddle of Mudd.  I am just disappointed as I really want him to come with us, and thought , Maybe I could get YOUR imput to convincing him to come --and why!    Let me know if you are "opening" or how long you plan to play at this event so I can pass this on to him or any personal messages about why you choose to do a concert with Shinedown and/or Puddle of Mudd.      Thank you so very much, I know very very little about  you, but am very much looking forward to seeing You in concert !  Even if he does not go, But I feel ONLY YOU can convince him to make this event.    Smiley God Bless

He doesn't need to sit through the other bands...just saying.  That's probably what I would do (See Skillet play, then hit merch, try to meet them, then go home so I can get to bed at a decent hour).  Just an idea.
The actual members of Skillet aren't members of this forum.

How does one get to meet them back stage then, if he has that opportunity, I think I might convince him to go, but surely not everyone who goes can DO this.  I have not been to a Rock concert in 20 some years, and they were all so popular that even thinking I could see anyone back stage -would have been unheard of.   Bummer they never check a message board about them!  Ok, your advice then,  I know my son is disapointed that Skillet would even be at a concert with secular groups.  Obvioulsy Skillet has no problem with it then?

They don't do it that often, and from the sounds of it, they were really reaching out to people last time (I wasn't a fan then so I wouldn't know).  There are ways to buy a VIP ticket that includes a Meet&Greet (read: autograph line) as well as a bunch of other stuff.  I don't think they're on sale yet though.  If you have a www.thepanheads.com membership, you can get some starting tomorrow for select shows.
I don't really mind them touring with secular groups, as long as it's not a regular thing...and yes, I am a Christian.  I do know, however, that my parents would totally freak if they found out.   Roll Eyes  Not only would they forbid me from going to that tour, but I would have an extremely difficult time convincing them that Skillet is really a Christian band and that I should be allowed to go to any future concert.   Roll Eyes
But from the sounds of it, Skillet has no problem with it.  John, and probably the other members, apparently likes lots of secular rock...idk.
I probably won't be going, both because of the parental units and because they probably won't be within 3 states of me.  That, and I'm totally unfamiliar with the other bands that will be there...and I don't really like secular rock...just personally.  That's my thoughts.

OverRunWithSons, you must understand that Skillet does not interfere with the conversations we have about them here, nor do they have time to check every website rambling about them. Ben (the guitarist) had an account herea long time ago, but has since chosen to move on.

Once we have more information about the tour's line-up schedule, how long Skillet's set is, etc. we will have the information available here. Keep checking back for more information about the tour.

Also, if Skillet were to open for Shinedown & Puddle of Mudd, you could sit through Skillet's set them leave after it. No one would be forcing anyone to watch the secular bands.

Gaspo:  Thank you for sharing all the fine information you did about VIP passes , etc.   So it sounds like you come from a Strick christian home, from what you said, it sounds like your parents would FREAK learning that Skillet was opening or touring with 2 secular bands--and would forbid you from listening to them if they found out???     I do not believe it is Touring but a one night stop, this particular concert is not even listed on Skillets site or Shinedowns !  Here is the link  --from a Radio station in Ohio.  http://2005.933ncd.com/cc-common/mainheadlines3.html?feed=107737&article=6327693

I can attest that not being a Strict Christian parent does NOT allows mean that your children will go "bad" or leave Christianity.  I have 6 kids, the 2 oldest is very christian, I allow them all the freedom in the world, sometimes I think their form of rebellion is to "be good".  A little crazy from this standpoint.    Do you like your parents being this way, or do you often wish they would loosen the reins a little bit?  Just curious, thought I would ask.  Until I learn how much playtime they may get at this concert, their is no way my son will go.  I will keep checking back.    Thank you all.

OK.  I think it is actually a tour, they've mentioned a tour before.  The Panheads Fan-club lists a bunch of dates that are up for some kind of fancy pre-sale.  According to them, the VIP Passes include:
-       1 Meet and Greet with Skillet
-       1 Premium Reserved Ticket or General Admission Ticket
-       1 Limited Edition Hand-Signed Skillet Poster
-       1 Commemorative Skillet VIP tour laminate
-       1 Set of Skillet Dog Tags
-       1 Skillet Pick Pack

They've added more goodies since the Awake and Alive tour...   Wink

That's all I know for now...we should probably move the parenting discussion to PM or the Non-Skillet thread, before Timmy or Energy get irritated.
