I am going to the Awake Tonight tour in MN. I got dance floor tickets for us and for my friend and his girlfriend. I am a Skillet fan and I like rock music, my friends, however, are pop music (Electronica, Euro Pop, Euro Dance, Trance, etc), soul and rap fans. They know about Toby Mac and somewhat like some of his songs, but at the same time it is not their music of choice. They have heard some bits and pieces of Skillet's songs from the videos I have shown them, but they did not get too excited about them. The two of them have not been to any rock concerts yet, but they decided to go to this one probably because of Skillets show on stage. So, I just want to know what impression Skillet concerts left on the people who have not heard of Skillet or much of their style. Should I get some ear plugs for them?  Huh

Probably might wanna get earplugs for them, simply to protect their ears (and yours, too, for that matter) if they should want them.

Also, I'm gonna be at that show--some friends from church are taking me and my brother.  They're both big Toby fans but haven't heard any Skillet...I think the one I talked to thought they were hip-hop.   Roll Eyes  I told her she could borrow a couple of their CDs from me, though...

Earplugs are for the weak  Wink Cheesy

Seriously, though... There are many other things to enjoy about a Skillet show besides just the music, especially if they're headlining. I've heard many people say that their stage performance is on-par with many secular rock bands, which is a huge compliment. I'm sure they'll have a great time. You may just make panheads out of them yet  Tongue

Or at least dedicated skilletfanz. Hopefully more.

Actually, earplugs are for those who aren't used to the epicness of loud, live music (especially Skillet).

Yea, I think earplugs are good to have for those who don't know what to expect. I have been to a lot of concerts and know how things go  Grin I just hope they like the show, and since, hopefully, Skillet is closing, they will see how concerts should end  Smiley

At the last 4 Secular rock festivals Skillet has appeared at they have been mentioned at all of them as one of the best live acts out there and are frequently considered better than their secular counterparts.

Having been to Skillet shows and other shows, this is totally obviously absolutely positively completely fact and true.

The only other live act that I've seen that compares to Skillet in both energy and special effects is Nightwish. Skillet may not be the best studio band out there, but they're one of the better live ones. If only they'd stop playing Those Nights....

I can't repeat what people were telling me about how awesome Skillet was Last night opening for Creed.  Their stage presence rivaled that of their headliners even though they had a smaller stage to work with.  They worked hard and totally gained the respect of the crowd, many who had never heard of Skillet.  By the time Skillet left the stage, I heard nothing but amazing words about the band who had just shocked them with how good they were.

Perfect sound production and a solid, confident stage presence will win people every time.  Way to go Skillet for loving our God, and letting Him use you to reach out.  They suprised a lot of people in Cincinnati last night.
